I hope you get it sorted quickly!

That and the fact that I nursed her for a good year with the injury did not help. I don't regret the extended nursing but I had to give up the idea of carrying her as much as I had wanted (the Ergo is practically brand new).

I think I have been for a while now but denying it. I know my DH is very eager for me to go to a professional and not too keen on me plugging away on my own. The constant awareness of the injury has really made me more agitated and prone to waking up "down" which affects him and Yana.

I just sent an email to Cressey so hopefully he'll respond with some recommendations in addition to my own research.
Bravo!
Got a very quick reply from Eric Cressey re: my shoulder issues ( I sent him a few photos as well).

"...there is definitely a prominent scapular dyskinesis in place. It will take a combination of treatments from him and a solid corrective exercise program to get you rolling. This, of course, assumes that there isn't more significant structural damage in place.

He referred me to a clinic where another client had been to, it's about 30 min. from my house. Have an initial appt next saturday. So glad I emailed him. So glad about the appt. This stuff sounds more serious than I had thought.

Bravo!

BTW, it seems the more I try to stretch the area, the more discomfort I feel- it's like the body prefers the comfort of the improper alignment.
Good stuff. Eric's a nice guy about this kind of thing; he's who originally helped me figure out what was wrong with my bad right shoulder.

Hopefully the ART will help. I have a feeling you've got more going on in there than just a simple muscle/strength imbalance.

Confused That is my concern as well. No matter how complicated it turns out to be , I just hope that it is fixable.

He sure sounds like a good guy this Eric.
Carb-loaded all weekend (homemade biscuits (low fat, low cal and panettone) and feel good about itBig Grin. Had a lot of shoulder pain o/weeknd as a result of trying to stretch shoulder area. So much for that.

Would not mind dropping just a few pounds but at this point not feeling very motivated. I am fine with how I look but I know once the warmer weather comes, I will be wanting to get leaner. Maybe going to the gym's pool will motivate me Wink!

Did do 40min cardio on bike over the weekend which was the longest in quite a while.

Going to gym now, do some running and core plus stretch.
Okay so yesterday there was no gym after all- neighbor's tree fell across our driveway and I was stuck home all day.
Luckily no damage but I do wish the car had been there- could have gotten ourselves a new one! Smile

I had a carb feast instead...Big GrinCool

Whadya gonna do?!

So back at it again, swearing to stay off carbs (except fruits, veges and wholegrains) for a while.

Today
Shoulder pain has eased a bit.

20 min HIIT treadmill ( 2 miles 15:46....bit slower today).
Core circuit (med ball woodchpprs, alt abs on Swball, elevtd supermns)
Stretch- esp lower bod, some chest/trap stretches

Being careful with stretching shoulder area b/c it's becomes painful and I can live w/o that until I see chiro/ART dude on saturday.
Glad you have an appointment set up. Hope it starts helping!!!

It better work b/c it's not like I have a terminal condition Cool. LOL.

Yesterday ate as I had intended- all good carbs in moderation.Bravo!

Here goes another day of sticking to the good stuff.
Visit with chiro regarding shoulder went well.
I like the doc.
Turns out he knows Cressey personally and has had many clients referred to him.

Serious overcompensation has resulted in elevated shoulder-the extended nursing did not help (but we both agreed it was a good decision to do so).

I am not going to get into technical terms because I am not good at remembering that stuff. Simply put we need to get full mobility into my shoulder which means loosening the tight muscles (over-compensating ones like pecs minor, upper traps) which pull shoulder up and forward and strengthening muscles which depress scapula (ie serratus).

He could fit his hand under my R shoulder blade which was not possible on the left. This means my right scapula is unstable. Explains why I cannot exert much force with my right shoulder.

So mobility gets restored and then we will work on stabilizing the shoulder.

He did some ART on me which felt really good then acupuncture needles with low level electric current in the pecs minor as well as the lats area. The pecs minor needle felt especially strange- I could feel it the muscle relaxing, twitching, and loosening up. My shoulder dropped a little after that.

Then I went with physical therapist who demonstrated stretches and strengthening exercises I need to do between appointments.

Dr thinks it will take 6-8 weeks to rehab and for first 3 weeks I see him twice and the PT once a week. I am expected to do my homework, ie stretches + exercises. Stretches daily and multiple times, exercises every other day.

I feel really good about the visit and hopeful. Doc said there is no reason for me not to be able to do what i did before and he has seen much worse.

So I did my homework last tonight and it felt good to get in touch with some of those non-firing muskles.

(BTW, my AC joint on R shoulder is definitely different from the left one. Doc says that I must have torn some of the ligaments when I had a rollerblading accident in 2001. Shoulder has never been the same (clicking at times and more vulnerable, hence this injury). However, it won't prevent me from getting on with training, etc).

BadgerBravo!
You see?
