I am determined I will not pull out the ice cream maker before spring or maybe even summer.
Di- did you try out the icecream maker? If so how was it with the protein? What did you or are you planning to use?
Morgan, I made a basic vanilla "real" ice cream first to make sure I wasn't one of those idiots on Amazon.com that couldn't work the ice cream maker Tongue It turned out perfect!! My sister and brother-in-law came over yesterday for lunch and I gave them a sample and they loved it. It tasted like one of those fancy brands you can buy. I think I am going to love this machine! I am going to try make a protein one today - I might try it with cottage cheese.
I have tried a protein ice cream in the past, but it never wanted to turn out nicely. I made a vanilla (real bean) ice cream for christmas that I really liked.

Nice! I LOVE icecream and never had it fresh like that. So does it come out like hard icecream or soft (like soft serve) I am assuming hard but not sure how that would work exactly. I am also curious to know how the protein type will turn out!

It comes out like half melted ice cream and you can eat it like that if you like. I put mine in the freezer for a couple hours and it comes out like "real" ice cream that you can scoop onto cones.
I made protein ice cream today!

1 cup milk
1.5 cups low fat cottage cheese
3/4 cup Splenda
1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste

I blended it all with a blender till smooth and then put it in the ice cream maker for 25 minutes. Yummy!
This thread is really making me want an ice cream maker.
