I'm just copying and pasting most of this from my blog cos I'm too lazy to type out something different Tongue

So today I stopped being gay and got off my arse and did the Strong Woman competition I said I was going to do.
Annnnnnd I came first!!

Woot!

It was quite a close competition. The lady that came second was really impressive. She was probably about 40-50 years old, very athletic looking. I thought for sure was going to get first. She was very strong and had good technique. I think the only reason I won was because I just had the brute strength to do stuff. My technique sucked in a lot of things

The car pull was the first event and by far the hardest. I had a harness around me attached to the car I was pulling and a rope attached to a truck that was parked. The course we had to pull the car over was on a slight incline so it was HARD. The last 10 m were hell and I almost gave up, but everyone yelling at me and encouraging me got me through. When I was done, my forearms were burning and half numb... LOL I felt like I was using my upper body more than my lower body - everything was so uncoordinated because I was so tired. The lady that won the event was fantastic! She kept low and looked like she was jogging. It seemed essential to have good technique and I didn't have it. I only got through by strongarming it.

Tire fipping was pretty straight forward. I won this event by about 0.15 seconds! Amazing. The top three places were within 1 second of each other. My deadlifting helped me get through this. Again the course had a slight incline to it, so the last two flips were hell and I think I grunted a lot LOL.

Third event was the farmers walk. I was pretty relaxed about this one as I had done this one before with Shannon in Sydney. We had 50kg a side. I picked it up and zipped along with them. I think I did it in 23 seconds or so.

Fourth event was the log carry. We had to pick up and carry a 50kg log 40 metres. It was pretty damn hard. I dropped the log about 10 m from the finish line and had to pick it up again and finish. I still managed to get third in that event despite dropping it. Phew!

The last event was moving stones in ascending weights onto a platform. It was pretty straight forward. Instead of the usual atlas stones they use in strong man competitions, they just had regular rocks/stones that had been weighed. They moved the lightest one (47kg) furthermost from the platform and the heaviest closest to the platform. Again my deadlift seemed to help me quite a bit here. The last one which weighed 80kg gave me a little trouble but I managed to get first in this event.

Everyone did awesome. I was impressed with the turnout (7 ladies) and everyone's effort. There were some ladies there that looked like they were late 50's, early 60's. Some were just troopers.... they didn't give up until they'd finished. Nice.

The guys asked if I wanted to come and do the men's competition in 2 weeks time. However, I don't think I will cos some of the weights seem quite hard and I would probably die.
did matt actually take any pictures?
No pics. We forgot the camera!
ha

silly buggers
Great job Di!
You forgot to mention that you made the news.
Awesome Di!!!

I want to see the news.Wink
Huge effort makes Diana the strongest in the land
Oh man. I did my first training session yesterday and I am soooo sore today I can barely move. I haven't been this sore for I don't even remember!

We did log press, farmers walks, tyre flipping, car pull and stones onto a barrel. Was a blast. I am going to love this sport!!
Second training session yesterday! The power cleans I've been doing are helping with the log press immensely. I don't feel like I use so much energy getting it up to my collarbone. I got up to 52.5kg x 3 with the log press with more in the tank.

Did 63kg farmers walks and a couple of rounds with the car pull. Last we practiced lifting a stone (80kg) onto a barrel.

My body is slowly getting used to the training; I don't feel so tired today!!
